Kingspan Rugby Stadium

Case Study

Client: Gilbert Ash Ltd
Project: Kingspan Rugby Stadium
Site: Ravenhill Belfast

Gilbert Ash, one of Northern Ireland's leading construction companies, recently undertook the refurbishment of the Ravenhill Rugby Stadium, home of the Ulster Rugby Team. Whilst nearing completion of the project they needed to access lights fitted to the underside of the roof of one of the grandstands.

KDM Involvement:

KDM surveyed the site to ascertain which machine, if any, would be suitable to undertake the task. It was discovered that the lights were at a considerable height and that due to the recent laying of new turf, access to the site was very limited. A specialist tracked spider boom was delivered to the site whereby a two hour familiarisation handover of the machine was given to Gilbert Ash’s trained operatives. Help was provided by KDM’s experienced operator to manoeuvre the machine into the desired location, allowing the task to be successfully completed.

Client Benefits:

The client avoided having to bring in scaffolding contractors to erect scaffold on the grandstand or bring heavy equipment over the newly laid turf of the stadium resolving their problem quickly and cost effectively.
The operators were provided with an extensive handover ensuring the task was undertaken safely and efficiently.
